Rialto Bridge in Venice Italy

When you are on vacation do you get a little carried away with the special purchases?  It can be anything, maybe a pair of fancy detailed sandals that are right out of a magazine but you know cannot be worn walking any hills in San Francisco without damage to my your toes. Maybe your special purchase centers around meal time?  Shoot I’m the first one to throw the diet out the window and get dessert every night on vacation.

When we were in Venice, Italy temptations were everywhere to over spend and over eat.  However my voice of reason was along for the ride and one of my favorite mid day meals that was light on the pocket but almost always delicious, was getting a slice of pizza.

Everywhere we walked, along narrow side canals or through a piazza, I scouted for signs of a good slice.  Nice smells lingering along the sidewalk, people walking with a good looking slice or sitting at an outdoor table with one.  My quest turned up Antica Birraria La Corte in the area of San Polo, not far from the Rialto Bridge.

Yummy yummy food. Period. This is a large pizzeria but it also has lots of other dishes like calzone and salads. What I loved the most was the prices and the many pizza choices. Who says you can only find good pizza in the US?  However don’t worry if you aren’t in the mood for pizza because they also have a nice menu of homemade pastas.  All of their ingredients are from the region or at least from within Italy.

Birraria La Corte is definitely worth stopping in for lunch or dinner.  We didn’t take our meal outside but next time, we plan to show off our happiness with finding delicious pizza in Italy. Molte bene!
